Jesus Needs Lunch Money...

So here is the joke of the day. Well, at least it is funny to me.

Black folk have a tendency to name their children all sorts of things. My great-grandmother said that we did it as a people so that our children could feel special, considering all the struggles they have to go through. In my personal first grade teacher mind, this rationale does not make sense. Giving your child a beautiful queenly or kingly name like Samuel or Catherine is one thing. There is nothing at all regal about Allyiaiesha (and yes, this is a real name from the class next door).

Today beat all...I must admit I was in need of a laugh, and the universe provided one for me.

There is a child in our kindergarten class names Jesus. And no, it is not pronounced Hey-sus, the baby is called Jesus....like the last supper. Now, I know that this is not a big deal, but what is really funny is that he has a classmate named Heaven! Anyway, our students had an early release day, meaning they left at 11:45. The school was still obligated to give them lunch. The cafeteria decided that the students would have Lunchables with a tasty Uncrustable (that crust-less PB&J sandwich) inside. I was standing right next to Jesus (as one should always, because Jesus is our friend) when he was picking up his PB&J. The cafeteria lady looked at the other cafeteria worker and said:

CL: Jesus needs lunch money.

CL2: There is nothing on his account?

CL: No, Jesus needs lunch money.

Me: Oh no, Jesus never needs lunch money.

CL1: What?

Me:All his has to do is wait until he gets to class and just TOUCH the Lunchable next to him and he will feed the multitude! PB&J for all! Praise God!

At this point they made me leave the cafeteria and wait for my class outside. LOL.
